Why Breakfast is Important for Weight Loss

For the longest time, it was believed that the most important meal of the day is lunch. However, research shows that it is actually breakfast that a person should not take for granted. According to research, a quarter of the total population actually skips this important meal. This is because with this fast paced world, the time to sit down and eat is no longer a luxury everyone can afford.

However, if you’ll notice, the people who are actually fit and are burning calories big time are the ones that do not miss a meal – especially breakfast. This is because the first meal of the day is actually the one that kick starts your metabolism. That’s probably why it’s called “breaking your fast” because you are ending an eight hour fast that started the minute you hit the sack. Hence, the body starts to slow down; metabolism performs poorly for the next few hours and wakes up again once you eat breakfast. Now, if you don’t eat breakfast, then the rate of metabolism continues as it is thereby preventing you from burning calories in the amount you desired. Plus, you don’t get the burst of healthy energy necessary to perform well during the day.

For some people, not eating breakfast is part of a diet regimen. They think that by skipping this particular meal, they are actually lowering the amount of calorie intake which would mean getting closer to the body they want. Wrong. The truth is that not eating properly could actually trigger you to consume more. This is because once you skip breakfast; the body would be craving for something to eat by the time ten o-‘clock comes in. As you know, this time usually means snack and most people opt for sugary snacks that could ruin your diet. Although you may fight it, breakfast would definitely lessen the compulsion to overeat and this effect would stretch up to lunch.

Of course, this puts forth the question: would any breakfast do? The truth is that even one donut would be a good breakfast option rather than not eating at all. This is in relation to the fact that the first meal of the day would kick start your metabolism. However, as an everyday occurrence, donuts or any other processed foods are not really ideal. The best breakfast foods are still and would always be natural fruits or vegetables that could supply you the basic minerals and nutrients to get through the day.

Of course, if you are just looking for ways to get your breakfast and still arrive to work on time, then you should start scouting for quick yet healthy options. This included protein shakes or even instant oatmeal that could help you suck out toxins in the body. It only takes a few minutes to whip them up so you won’t have any problem with getting to work. Make sure that you also drink water along with your breakfast and not just with your coffee. Even better, drink water first and wait for a few minutes before the caffeine kick.
