To Eat or Not to Eat Dinner - Weight Loss Misconception

Lots of people are doing it nowadays – skipping meals in an effort to lose weight. The question is, does it work?

Basically, not eating in the evening means taking in fewer calories for the whole day. Hence, when viewed logically, skipping dinner could really be a factor in weight loss. After all, after dinner, a person basically prepares for sleep and hits the sack. As a result, metabolism slows down and most of the food consumed automatically turns into fat since very small amounts of energy is expended for the whole night.

However, that doesn’t mean that the practice really does help with weight loss. The truth is that not eating at night may also be affected by how much you eat at breakfast at lunch. This is because if you start skipping dinner, chances are you will be eating more for breakfast or lunch. What’s worse, you could be the type who wakes up just in time for work and therefore skips breakfast too. You see, the lack of proper food in our system is one of the reasons why the body resorts to sugar cravings. There is no energy source in the stomach due to meal skipping and thus we look for available alternatives like sugar, which are excellent for energy boosts but does not for your overall health.

So what does this mean? Well, bottom line is that if you really want to lose weight by skipping dinner, then make sure that you get adequate and healthy rations for breakfast and lunch. The goal here is to lower your calorie intake, not skip dinner only to overcompensate when other meals come rolling in. That being said, you might want to try out the following methods if you really want to start burning calories up by just simply changing one meal.

The rule is pretty simple; you can eat dinner but make sure that you go to bed two or three hours after the fact. This is so the stomach would have time to digest the contents you fed it. Even better, eat only light, low carbohydrate foods like vegetable or fruits. Your goal here is to have something to wake up to in the morning and keeping your metabolic rate at a steady pace.

To make it more specific, do what I do. Do not eating anything after six in the evening and instead concentrate on fluids, mainly water. Water helps flush out toxins in the body, therefore allowing you to be ready in getting rid of the bad stuff by the time morning comes rolling in.

If you have any parties to go to, keep your food consumption moderate. There is a reason why an unhealthy lifestyle often produces unhealthy bodies. Also, don’t forget to get your daily dose of physical activity. This would not only speed up your metabolism but burn up the calories that are being stored as fat in your body.

So all in all, is skipping dinner a good thing for weight loss? When it comes right down to it, the answer is no. Getting light meals at the end of the day is what’s important, but reducing it to zero isn’t really a healthy move for dieters. Brought to you by burning calories
